BLUES Alexander Steen scored with 57 seconds remaining in regulation to force overtime, which gave Vince Dunn the chance to end the game with
a coast-to-coast overtime game-winning goal on Tuesday
to help the Blues to a come-from-behind 2-1 victory against the Maple Leafs in their first game out of the bye week.
"It's pretty crazy. You dream about playing in this arena when you're a little kid," said Dunn, who grew up in nearby Mississauga, Ontario. "To get the opportunity tonight… I've had lots of support here from my family and friends, and just very fortunate for the opportunity and really happy we could get the win."
"I think we deserved to tie it, I thought we had our fair share of chances, and I thought (Frederik) Andersen made some great saves obviously," Steen said after the game. "We played a solid hockey game and I think we deserved that goal at least."
SENATORS Ottawa will be playing their first game after their bye week on Thursday when they host the Blues.
The Senators last game was a 4-3 victory over the Maple Leafs on Jan. 10. Goalie Crag Anderson turned in a 45-save effort just one day after giving up four goals on 26 shots in an eventual 8-2 loss to the Chicago Blackhawks.
"We played a decent game from start to finish," Senators captain Erik Karlsson told NHL.com after Ottawa's last game. "They played well and created their fair share of scoring chances, but Anderson played great for us tonight and we found a way to stick with it. We didn't change and kept playing all the way through 60 minutes."
Through 42 games, the Senators find themselves under .500 with a record of 15-18-9 (39 points).
HEAD-TO-HEAD The Blues split the season series with Ottawa last season, with both teams winning on the road. The Blues have points in nine of their last 10 games against the Senators overall (5-1-4).
Five of the last 10 meetings between the teams have gone to overtime.
