Barratt

Throughout the week, 2017 draft pick Evan Barratt will be blogging for chicagoblackhawks.com about his experiences during his first Blackhawks Prospect Camp.
Today was a big learning day for the group. The focus was on understanding how the Blackhawks play and what their tendencies are on the ice. This is something I'll take home with me and use in my game. We also did a couple of line rushes and battle drills before transitioning to the off-ice workout, where we did kettlebell work and a relay race.

My body is definitely getting a little tired after our third day on the ice, but it's nice having the hot and cold tubs to help keep my legs fresh. Eating the right food at the right times and getting a good night's sleep is all part of the recovery process.
I haven't been able to explore much of Chicago these past couple of days, although Chad and I did find a good sushi place that we will go back to, but I do remember going to Navy Pier during the Draft.
I have a lot of memories from that weekend. My family arrived in town two days early. My Dad, godfather and I went to play golf one day, and it was a great way to stay relaxed and take my mind off the big event. My mom, brother and sister were also at the Draft. My parents were trying to keep it light leading up to that moment, waiting for my name to be called. We don't get to all see each other often with schedules, school and where everyone lives, so it was really nice having everyone together and very special sharing that moment with them.
Tonight we have the team dinner, and then Chad and I will watch some more Netflix. I don't have a favorite character in "90210" but we get a kick out of all the stuff that goes on in the show. I fell asleep while Chad was watching last night so I don't know if we made it to Season 2. We'll see when we watch tonight.
