The Chicago Blackhawks announced today that they have recalled forward Tomas Jurco (TAW-muhs YUHR-koh) from the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League. In a corresponding move, forward John Hayden was assigned to Rockford.
Jurco, 25, is second on the IceHogs in scoring this season with 25 points (13G, 12A). The forward has goals in three of his last four games including one yesterday vs. Milwaukee. Jurco also has five multi-point games this season, including a three-point game (1G, 2A) on opening night, October 7 at Cleveland.

After being acquired from the Detroit Red Wings on February 24, 2017, Jurco picked up one goal in 13 games last season with the Blackhawks. He began his NHL career with the Red Wings (2013-17), where he scored 15 goals and recorded 24 assists in 159 games spanning four seasons.
The Kosice, Slovakia, native registered 71 points (33G, 38A) in 113 career AHL games with the Grand Rapids Griffins (2012-17). Jurco posted eight goals and six assists as a rookie during the 2013 Calder Cup Playoffs en route to a championship with Grand Rapids. Jurco was originally selected by Detroit in the second round (35th overall) of the 2011 NHL Draft.
Hayden, 22, has three goals and eight assists in 39 games this season with the Blackhawks. He made his NHL debut on March 16, 2017 with Chicago and has appeared in 51 career NHL games with four goals and 11 assists. The native of Chicago was originally selected by the Blackhawks in the third round (74th overall) of the 2013 NHL Draft. He signed with the Blackhawks on March 12, 2017 immediately after completing his senior season at Yale University.
