Player Pets: Jared Spurgeon and the hope of the Canine Calendar

Each month, Wild.com will feature a Minnesota Wild player and his pet(s). This series also appears in Wild Magazine.
The Minnesota Wild recently shot its photos for its annual Canine Calendar, which will help raise money for charity. We caught up with defenseman Jared Spurgeon on what this means to him.

TS:Why is it important for you to be a part of the puppy calendar?
JS: I think it's good in general for people to raise awareness for animals that don't have homes. I think there's a lot more out there than you would expect and anyway we can help, we like to be a part of it. And plus, you get to see some dogs for a good day there.
TS:Do you have any pets of your own?
JS: We have one dog, we actually rescued him this summer. He's been awesome. He's about two years old a mix of a bunch of different things, but yeah, he's been awesome.
TS:Was the puppy shoot tempting to maybe add one more dog to your family?
JS:There's always temptation, but when you have four kids and one dog already, I think we're set for chaos right now.
TS:What is your overall hope to come from this?
JS:**Maybe some of those dogs that don't have homes, find one and just more people going out and trying to adopt would be huge, but like I said if you can raise money for any good cause, we are all for it.
