Rock you like a Hurricane

The Dallas Stars and Carolina Hurricanes meet on Saturday afternoon on the first night of a back-to-back. The Stars are 4-2-2 on the front end of back-to-backs in 2018-19, most recently picking up a 3-1 victory on Feb. 1 against the Wild at American Airlines Center. Dallas and Carolina play for the second and final time this season and face each other for the second time in a week's span. Last Saturday at PNC Arena, the Hurricanes blanked the Stars, 3-0. Hurricanes goaltender Petr Mrazek turned aside all 33 shots he faced. On special teams against the Hurricanes, the Stars went 0-for-2 on the power play and 0-of-1 on the penalty kill. The Stars have won three-straight games (3-0-0) against the Hurricanes at American Airlines Center and have recorded wins in nine of their last 10 home games against them (9-1-0). Since the Stars moved to the Lone Star State in 1993, the club has posted a 14-2-1 home record against the Carolina franchise. The club's .853 home points percentage vs. the Hurricanes is their best against any NHL club. In the most recent game at American Airlines Center between the two teams, the Stars defeated the Hurricanes, 4-3, on Oct. 21, 2017. Forward Tyler Pitlick potted a career-high two goals (2-0=2) and forward Radek Faksa added two assists (0-2=2).

Center Tyler Seguin recorded two points (1-1=2) against the St. Louis Blues on Thursday night and now has points in back-to-back games (2-1=3), along with inking the scoresheet in seven of his last 10 games (8-4=12). He has tallied 23 points (15-8=23) over 20 games since the start of 2019, and is tied for the fifth-most goals in the NHL over that span. The forward recorded his team-leading 16th multi-point game of the season on Thursday and his 122nd as a member of the Dallas Stars. Since the start of the 2013-14 season, his 122 games with two-or-more points are the fourth-most in the NHL and trails only Pittsburgh's Sidney Crosby (152), Chicago's Patrick Kane (134) and Washington's Alex Ovechkin (125). Seguin paces the Stars with 57 points (26-31=57) in 60 games this season. He leads the Stars with 26 goals and a +13 plus/minus rating so far in 2018-19 and shares first with 31 assists. At American Airlines Center, he has points in four-straight games (5-2=7) and has inked the scoresheet in five of his last six contests (6-3=9), with four multi-point games over that span. The forward leads all Stars players with 32 points (16-16=32) in 30 games on home ice this season, ranking first on the club in home goals (16) and second in home assists (16). The native of Brampton, Ontario goals in four of his five career games (5-3=8) against the Hurricanes at American Airlines Center. Eleven (6-5=11) of his 15 (9-6=15) career points vs. Carolina have come over his 11 games against them as a member of the Dallas Stars.

Benn there, done that

Captain Jamie Benn potted two goals (2-0=2) on Thursday night against the Blues for his second multi-goal game of the season. Benn has 41 points (21-20=41) in 59 games in 2018-19 and has now reached the 20-goal plateau for the ninth time in his ten seasons with Dallas. His nine, 20+ goal seasons are third-most in franchise history, behind only Mike Modano (16) and Brian Bellows (10). Bellows played in ten seasons for the North Stars, scoring at least 20 goals in each. Benn and Modano each hit the 20-goal mark in nine of their first ten seasons in the NHL. The native of Victoria, B.C. has points in two of his last three games (1-1=2) against Carolina and has tallied eight points (2-6=8) over his last six games against them. At American Airlines Center vs. the Hurricanes, Benn is riding a five-game point streak (4-8=12) and has points in six of his seven career home games (5-8=13). Over his NHL career, he has skated in 16 games vs. Carolina and has tallied 19 points (8-11=19).
