Dallas Stars General ManagerJim Nill and Director of Amateur Scouting Joe McDonnellselected center Ty Dellandrea with the thirteenth overall pick in the first round of the 2018 NHL Draft held at American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas.

"Ty is an extremely talented two-way centerman with explosive speed, hockey intelligence and willingness to do whatever it takes to help his team succeed on the ice," stated McDonnell. "Over his two seasons with Flint, he has continued to improve every facet of his game and exhibits the character and work ethic that it takes to succeed in the National Hockey League."

Dellandrea, 17, spent the 2017-18 season with the Flint Firebirds of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), posting 59 points (27-32=59) in 67 regular-season contests. The Toronto, Ontario native led the team in goals (27) and ranked second in points (59) and assists (32). In two seasons with the Firebirds, he amassed 83 points (40-43=83) in 124 regular-season contests. Dellandrea skated in five games during the 2017 OHL Playoffs and recorded one assist (0-1=1).

The 6-foot, 184 pound center was a member of Canada's gold medal-winning team in the 2017 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament and has represented his country twice at the Under-18 World Championship in 2017 and 2018.
The Stars have seven picks on Saturday including one in the second round (44th overall), one in the third round (75th overall), two in the fourth round (100th overall and 106th overall), one in the fifth round (137th overall), one in the sixth round (168th overall) and one in the seventh round (199th overall). The second day of the 2018 NHL Draft will feature Rounds Two through Seven and will begin at 10 a.m. CT tomorrow on the NHL Network.
