Harrington, 29, has logged 210 career NHL games, spending the previous six seasons as a member of the Columbus Blue Jackets. He skated in seven games for the Blue Jackets last season, registering an assist and six penalty minutes, and appeared in 50 games for the Cleveland Monsters of the American Hockey League.
In his NHL tenure, which includes 10 games with the Pittsburgh Penguins and 15 with the Toronto Maple Leafs, Harrington has accounted for seven goals, 31 assists and 77 penalty minutes. In 193 career AHL games, the defenseman has tallied 11 goals, 35 assists, 104 penalty minutes and a plus-8 rating.
The 6-foot-2, 204-pound native of Kingston, Ontario was originally drafted by Pittsburgh in the second round (54th overall) of the 2011 NHL Draft.
