After leading the Sens to a perfect 4-0-0 record last week, Erik Karlsson has been announced as the NHL's third star of the week.
Ottawa is currently in the midst of a 6-game winning streak and it's probably not a conincidnece that Karlsson's recent surge syncs up perfectly with the team's ascent in the standings. In his 4 games last week, Karlsson amassed 6 points (2G + 4A) which included the overtime winner against the Coyotes on Thursday.

The Sens captain was also a league-best +6 over the past 7 days and currently only trails Connor McDavid for the NHL lead in assists with 49. He also remains firmly entrenched in the top 5 for TOI/game (26:36) and shifts/game (31.7) but the stat that seems to be surprising most people is his 181 blocked shots this season (20 more than Ian Cole who sits in second place for that category). Karlsson added another 11 blocks tp his total last week.
Erik Karlsson and the Senators are set for a 3-game homestand beginning tomorrow against the Tampa Bay Lighting.
