The Buffalo Sabres have signed goaltender Alex Lyon to a two-year contract worth an average annual value of $1.5 million, the team announced Tuesday.
Lyon, 32, went 14-9-1 with an .896 save percentage and a 2.81 goals-against average in 30 games for Detroit last season.
Lyon has played 113 career NHL games spanning eight seasons with Philadelphia, Carolina, Florida and Detroit. He was a Calder Cup champion as a member of the AHL’s Chicago Wolves in 2021-22.
The veteran joins fellow goaltenders Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen and Devon Levi on the organizational depth chart. Luukkonen played a career-high 55 games for Buffalo last season; Levi was named to the AHL All-Star Game with Rochester.
