RANGERS NOTES
OPENING AT THE GARDEN – The Rangers earned their first two points of the season in their 2026-27 home opener. New York has now earned a point in five of their last six home openers (3-1-2). Against Tampa Bay, the Blueshirts have won their last two matchups and have earned points in eight of their last 10 games at home against them (7-2-1).
GETTING ON THE BOARD – Eight different Rangers skaters tallied at least one point against the Lightning and three skaters notched multi-point games: Pavel Dorofeyev (1G-1A), Adam Fox (2A), Mika Zibanejad (1G-1A), Oliver Bjorkstrand (1A), Noah Laba (1A), Gabe Perreault (1G), Igor Shesterkin (1G) and Eeli Tolvanen (1G).
GOALIE GOAAAAL - Igor Shesterkin became the first Rangers goaltender in franchise history to score a goal and became the 18th goaltender in NHL history to do so. Earning his first win of the season, he became the fourth-fastest Rangers goaltender to earn 100 career home wins with the team (177 GP).
Adam Fox notched his 76th career multi-assist game as a Ranger, surpassing James Patrick and tying Ron Greschner for the second-most multi-assist games by a defenseman in franchise history. He also tied Greschner and Zibanejad for the eighth-most multi-assist games among all skaters in franchise history.
Mika Zibanejad scored the first goal in tonight’s game and for the 60th time with the Rangers. He surpassed Chris Kreider (59) for the second-most instances in franchise history, following Rod Gilbert (72). Zibanejad notched his 137th career power play goal and his 121st since the 2017-18 season, ranking third among all NHL skaters in that span.
Pavel Dorofeyev and Eeli Tolvanen both scored their first goals as Rangers.
