New York Rangers President and General Manager Chris Drury announced today that the team has agreed to terms with forward Eeli Tolvanen on a one-year contract.
Tolvanen, 27, skated in 78 games for the Seattle Kraken in 2025-26, recording 12 goals and 24 assists for 36 points. Tolvanen also recorded a career-high 14 power play points (5G-9A). With 178 hits, Tolvanen ranked second on the Kraken and his 81 blocked shots were the most among forwards on the club. In addition, Tolvanen averaged a career high of 1:02 minutes of ice time on the penalty kill.
The 5-10, 182-pound forward has recorded 190 points (92G-98A) in 423 NHL games between the Kraken and Nashville Predators. Over the last three seasons, he is the only player in the NHL with 100-plus points, 600-plus hits and 200-plus blocked shots. Since 2022-23, his first season in Seattle, Tolvanen led the franchise in hits (703) and ranked first among forwards in blocked shots with 256. In 2024-25, Tolvanen scored a career-high 23 goals in 81 games, the second most on the Kraken.
Internationally, the Vihti, Finland native has represented Finland in several tournaments, including the 2026 and 2018 Olympics, and two World Championships.
Tolvanen was originally selected by Nashville in the first round, 30th overall, of the 2017 NHL Draft.
