The New York Rangers completed their 2023 newest group of prospects on Wednesday afternoon after selecting a total of five players at this year's NHL Draft hosted in Nashville at Bridgestone Arena.

The Rangers selected Gabriel Perreault (First Round, 23rd overall), Drew Fortescue (Third Round, 90th overall), Rasmus Larsson (Fifth Round 152nd overall), Dylan Roobroeck (Sixth Round, 178th overall) and Ty Henricks (Sixth Round, 183rd overall). This year's draft class is made up of three forwards (one left wing, one center and one right wing) and two defensemen.

"We got a little bit of everything," Rangers Director of Player Personnel & Director of Amateur Scouting John Lilley said of the 2023 draft class."We got skill, we got size, we got good defenders, we just checked a lot of boxes. We had a well-rounded group."

FIRST ROUND: 23RD OVERALL, GABRIEL PERREAULT

Selected From:U.S. National Team Development Program (USNTDP)

Position: Right wing

Build: 5-foot-11, 165-pounds

Shot:Left shot

Stats:Produced45 points (19G, 26A) in 23 games with the (USNTDP) and 132 points (53G, 79A) through 63 games with the Under-18 U.S. National Team.

Noteworthy: Perreault was born in Sherbrooke, Quebec and is the son of former NHLer Yanic Perreault, who played 14 seasons in the NHL spread between the Toronto Maple Leafs, Los Angeles Kings Montreal Canadiens, Nashville Predators, Phoenix Coyotes, and Chicago Blackhawks. Perreault's older brother, Jacob, 21, was drafted 27th overall in the 2020 NHL Draft by the Anaheim Ducks and currently plays for the club's AHL affiliate the San Diego Gulls. Perreault is committed to play Division l hockey at Boston College in the fall. With the USNTDP and Under-18 U.S. Perreault was coached under current Rangers assistant coach Dan Muse, who was recently added to Peter Laviolette's staff for the upcoming 2023-24 season.

THIRD ROUND: 90TH OVERALL, DREW FORTESCUE

Selected From:U.S. National Team Development Program (USNTDP)

Position: Defenseman

Build: 6-foot-2, 176-pounds

Shot:Left shot

Stats:Tallied five points (5A) and a plus-13 rating in 22 games with the USNTDP and notched 26 points (1G, 25A) and a plus-34 rating in 62 games with the Under-18 U.S. National Team.

Noteworthy: Fortescue was born in Pearl River, N.Y. and admitted he grew up an Islanders fan and attended many of the iconic battles between the two crosstown rivals. Fortescue also played with the son of Rangers President and General Manager Chris Drury on the Fairfield Jr. Rangers Triple A Under-15 squad in 2020. With the USNTDP and the Under-18 U.S. Fortescue was teammates with Perreault and both were coached by Muse. Fortescue, like Perreault, is Boston College-bound to play Division l hockey this fall.

What he said:"It's pretty awesome to be drafted by the Rangers. I know it's the [Islanders] rival, but I can tell you I'm a Rangers fan now."

Lilley on Fortescue: "He's a really solid defenseman. He can move a puck and add to the offense. He's got a little bit of edge to his game. He defends hard and defends well. He's an exciting player to get."


FIFTH ROUND: 152ND OVERALL, RASMUS LARSSON

Selected From:Västerås IK J20

Position: Defenseman

Build: 6-foot-3, 201-pounds

Shot:Left shot

Stats:Registered 34 points (16G, 18A) and a plus-23 rating in 50 regular games and produced five points (3G, 2A) in six postseason games with Västerås IK J20.

Noteworthy: Larsson is a Hässelby, Sweden native and is 19 years old. Larsson is committed to play Division l hockey at Northern Michigan University beginning in the 2024-25 season.


SIXTH ROUND: 178TH OVERALL, DYLAN ROOBROECK

Selected From:Oshawa Generals (Ontario Hockey League)

Position:Center

Build: 6-foot-7, 205-pounds

Shot:Left shot

Stats:Compiled 53 points (15G, 38A) and 60 PIMs in 68 games with Oshawa.

Noteworthy: Roobroeck is from London, Ontario and is 18 years old.


SIXTH ROUND: 183RD OVERALL, TY HENRICKS

Selected From:Muskegon Lumberjacks (United States Hockey League)

Position: Left wing

Build: 6-foot-5, 205-pounds

Shot:Left shot

Stats:Tallied 10 points (3G, 7A) in 19 games with Muskegon. Henricks started the 2022-23 season with the Fargo Force of the USHL, where he generated nine points (6G, 3A) in 28 contests.

Noteworthy: Henricks was born in Mission Viejo, California and is 18 years old. Henricks is committed to play Division l hockey at Western Michigan University beginning during the 2025-26 season.
