Florida Panthers to Host 'Sunrise Showdown' NHL 21 Online Tournament

"We are excited to announce the launch of our inaugural 'Sunrise Showdown' tournament," said Panthers Chief Commercial Officer Shawn Thornton. "As we work to grow the game of hockey in South Florida, we look at esports and FlaPanthers Gaming as an exciting and accessible way for new fans to learn the basics of the game and for current fans to also take their enjoyment of the game to another level by connecting to our organization through a new platform."
The 'Sunrise Showdown' will take place over the course of two days through Level Gaming's innovative tournament platform. A maximum of 128 participants are eligible to compete on both XBOX One and PlayStation 4. Registration for the tournament will be handled on a first come, first served basis.
The first round of tournament matches will take place on Saturday, Dec. 5, beginning at 3 p.m. ET and continue until there are eight participants remaining on both platforms. The final matches will take place on Saturday, Dec. 12 beginning at 5 p.m. ET and continue until the two champions have been crowned.
First prize for the winners of the XBOX One and PlayStation 4 console brackets will receive a custom Florida Panthers jersey and the opportunity to play with a Florida Panthers player or personality in one game of NHL 21 on the FlaPanthers Gaming Twitch channel. The second-place winner on each system will receive a $100 digital gift card to FlaTeamShop.com.
Registration for the 'Sunrise Showdown' is free and open to residents of the United States and Canada age 18 or older. All participants must have a copy of EA Sports NHL 21 and a stable internet connection.
