Tolvanen signs 1-year, $1.5 million contract with Rangers

Forward had 36 points for Kraken last season

Eeli Tolvanen signed a one-year, $1.5 million contract with the New York Rangers on Wednesday.

The 27-year-old forward had 36 points (12 goals, 24 assists) in 78 games for the Seattle Kraken last season.

Selected by the Nashville Predators in the first round (No. 30) of the 2017 NHL Draft, Tolvanen has 190 points (92 goals, 98 assists) in 423 regular-season games for the Predators and Kraken and nine points (four goals, five assists) in 21 Stanley Cup Playoff games.

Tolvanen had three points (one goal, two assists) in five games for Finland at the 2026 Winter Olympics to help them win bronze.

He joins a Rangers roster which added forwards Pavel Dorofeyev (trade), Oliver Bjorkstrand (free agency) and Joe Veleno (free agency) this offseason, as well as defensemen Sean Durzi and Marcus Pettersson (via trades).

The Rangers open the regular season at the Boston Bruins on Sept. 29 (8 p.m. ET; ESPN).
