Canes-Fans

There's an election happening in North Carolina this summer that promises to rock the people to their very core.

The Carolina Hurricanes need a new goal song, and they're leaving it up to a fan vote. And before you think this is some frivolous contest with an obvious winner, get a load of the nominees.
In their effort to mix old with new, there's a Techno mix of "Brass Bonanza," the beloved Hartford Whalers' goal song. Then there are popular hits, including House of Pain's "Jump Around," Nirvana's "Lithium," DMX's "Party Up," Led Zeppelin's "Rock and Roll," Avicii's "The Nights," and Muse's "Uprising."
And you can't have a vote on a North Carolina-based party song without Petey Pablo's "Raise Up." Is it North Carolina's state song? No. Should it be? Absolutely.
You don't have to be a Carolina fan to weigh in, but you do have to place your vote on the
Hurricanes website
.
The site contains handy audio files that let you hear each choice in context following the goal call, crowd cheering, goal horn, announcement and signature "Woo! Woo! Woo!"
Every vote counts, so make your voice heard by 11:59 p.m. ET on Monday.
