, and it showed why on Wednesday.
The Boston Bruins, who defeated the New York Rangers, 6-1, at Madison Square Garden, supplanted the Tampa Bay Lightning atop the rankings.
The Lightning had been in the top spot for 16 straight weeks, but the Bruins' 18-1-4 run in their past 23 games, and four straight wins, earned them the No. 1 position. Tampa Bay was second, one point behind Boston, and the Vegas Golden Knights came in third.
