STL@ANA: Kyrou kicks off scoring 20 seconds into game

ANAHEIM -- The St. Louis Blues scored three goals in the opening 2:06 and defeated the Anaheim Ducks 6-1 at Honda Center on Saturday.

They were the fastest three goals to start a game in St. Louis history, and the fifth fastest by one team in NHL history.
"We always want to get off to a good start," Blues coach Craig Berube said. "A couple bounces went our way, and we capitalized on them."
Jordan Kyrou scored two goals and had an assist, and David Perron had a goal and an assist for the Blues (5-2-1), who are 3-1-1 in their past five games. Jordan Binnington made 23 saves.
"We're really all kind of starting to buy in," Binnington said. "We got a lot of work to do, but it's a unique season. ... We're doing a good job so far taking care of ourselves."

STL@ANA: Sanford buries rebound 57 seconds into game

Max Jones scored for the Ducks (3-4-2), who have scored two goals or fewer in eight of nine games.
Ryan Miller made 21 saves in relief after John Gibson allowed three goals on six shots. Gibson entered the game with a 1.87 goals-against average, a .942 save percentage and two shutouts.
"Every minute of the game is important," Anaheim coach Dallas Eakins said. "It doesn't matter if it's the last minute, the middle minute, the first minute, they're all critical. In the end, you have to be ready for each and every minute of the game."
Kyrou scored 20 seconds into the game to give the Blues a 1-0 lead after Ducks defenseman Cam Fowler was unable to clear a long rebound.
"It was a good play by [Brayden Schenn] putting it on net," Kyrou said. "A good rebound came out to me."
Zach Sanford scored on his own rebound for his first goal of the season to make it 2-0 at 57 seconds, and Kyrou scored his second goal on a breakaway to make it 3-0 at 2:06.
"That was probably one of the hottest starts in my career," Kyrou said. "It was definitely a good start to get off to that game."

STL@ANA: Kyrou nets his second goal on breakaway

Ducks captain Ryan Getzlaf said they need to do a better job controlling the puck.
"The compete level has to go up through the roof," Getzlaf said. "When you're in a situation against a team like that, it's about being hard on pucks, making strong plays, especially early in hockey games."
The Ducks allowed the first eight shots on goal before outshooting the Blues 9-3 the rest of the first period.
Jones pushed in a rebound following a St. Louis turnover in its own zone to make it 3-1 at 16:59. It was his first goal.
Perron made it 4-1 at 7:30 of the second period when he scored off a centering pass from Ryan O'Reilly.
Kyle Clifford scored on a delayed penalty at 2:59 of the third period to make it 5-1, and Vince Dunn made it 6-1 with a power-play goal at 5:17.
The Blues and Ducks are scheduled to play here again Sunday.
"One nice thing about having a back-to-back is you get to get back at it," Getzlaf said. "When you come out and lay an egg, so to speak, like we did tonight, you get to forget about it in a half an hour here and get ready for the next one, go out and prove ourselves."
