The Boston Bruins forward scored on a fantastic individual effort, dangling through two New York Rangers defenders before beating Henrik Lundqvist for a highlight-reel goal in the second period of Boston's 6-1 win at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday.
Schaller picked up a pass from Matt Grzekcyk in his own zone and went coast to coast, putting an inside-out move on Rangers defenseman Tony DeAngelo before splitting him and his partner Brendan Smith. He then beat Lundqvist stick-side for his eighth goal of the season that made the game 4-1.
It was the final shot Lundqvist faced, and he was replaced by Ondrej Pavelec.
Boston goalie Anton Khudobin picked up the secondary assist on the goal, but he also stopped 21 shots to pick up his 11th win of the season.
