SEA@CGY: Giordano opens scoring with slick goal

Mark Giordano scored a goal for the Seattle Kraken in his return to Calgary, a 4-3 shootout win against the Calgary Flames at Scotiabank Saddledome on Wednesday.

Giordano played his first 15 NHL seasons for the Flames, including the past eight as their captain, before being selected by the Kraken in the 2021 NHL Expansion Draft on July 21. The defenseman scored 3:00 into the game to make it 1-0.
Jaden Schwartz scored twice for Seattle (6:01 of the first period, 12:37 of the third). Jordan Eberle scored the deciding goal in the third round of the shootout after Mikael Backlund tied the game 3-3 with an unassisted goal for Calgary with 2:27 remaining.
Matthew Tkachuk (14:54 of the first period) and Michael Stone (11:27 of the second) scored for the Flames. Tkachuk scored Calgary's only goal in the shootout.
Philipp Grubauer made nine saves on 11 shots through two periods, and Joey Daccord made 10 saves in relief to earn the win. Dan Vladar made 18 saves on 21 shots for the Flames.
