You might not think a symphony orchestra and San Jose Sharks defenseman Brent Burns have much in common, but you would be wrong.
A new spot for CCM Hockey has the two-time NHL All-Star and a string section working in perfect harmony.
It starts with Burns taking the ice in skates and full tuxedo, tails and all. After a quick sound check on the posts, Burns and the orchestra play a little classical music together.
The piece being performed is "The Blue Danube," a waltz by Johan Strauss. It's not the entire 11-minute work, that would take way too many pucks. It is instead just a very famous snippet of the piece.
Burns fits right in with the orchestra, right down to the bow at the end.
