The impact several rookies are making on the NHL is one of the major storylines of the 2021-22 season. Each week, NHL.com will examine topics related to this season's class in the Rookie Watch.
This week, a look at the top six rookie scorers among players age 20 or younger (listed by point total):

1. Lucas Raymond, F, Detroit Red Wings (19 years, 295 days): The No. 4 pick in the 2020 NHL Draft leads NHL rookies with 32 points (11 goals, 21 assists) and 25 even-strength points (eight goals, 17 assists) in 39 games. Raymond reached 20 assists in 36 games, the fewest games ever for a teenage player with the Red Wings, passing Steve Yzerman, who needed 39 games in 1983-84. Only five other Detroit rookies reached 30 NHL points in their first 36 NHL games (Sergei Fedorov, 27 games; Steve Yzerman, 30; Jim McFadden, 30; Nicklas Lidstrom, 33; Dutch Reibel, 36). Raymond is among 32 players on the ballot in the 2022 NHL All-Star Last Men In fan vote for the 2022 Honda NHL All-Star Game at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Feb. 5. Each of the 32 NHL teams is represented with one player on the ballot.

2. Trevor Zegras, F, Anaheim Ducks (20 years, 303 days): Zegras ranks second among NHL rookies with 29 points (10 goals, 19 assists) and is tied for second (Raymond) with seven power-play points (three goals, four assists) in 35 games. The No. 9 pick in the 2019 draft also leads all rookies in shootout goals (four) on six chances. He reached 40 points (12 goals, 28 assists) in 56 NHL games; the only Ducks rookie to reach 40 points in fewer games was Bobby Ryan (54 games, 2007-08 and 2008-09). He has 10 multipoint games, including eight in his past 19 games (22 points; seven goals, 15 assists). The center has scored eight goals this season that have tied the game or given Anaheim the lead. Zegras is the first Ducks rookie to have three or more power-play goals in a season since Cam Fowler (six) in 2010-11. Since Nov. 14 (22 games), Zegras leads all rookies in goals (eight), assists (16), points (22) and power-play points (seven).

3. Moritz Seider, D, Detroit Red Wings (20 years, 286 days): Seider ranks third among NHL rookies with 24 points (three goals, 21 assists) and first in blocked shots (71) and ice time (22:24) in 39 games. The No. 6 pick in the 2019 NHL Draft got his 20th assist in his 36th game, third among Red Wings defensemen after Lidstrom (26 games) and Jeff Sharples (32 games).

4. Anton Lundell, F, Florida Panthers (20 years, 106 days):Lundell is tied for fourth among all NHL rookies (with Tanner Jeannot, Nashville Predators; Michel Bunting, Toronto Maple Leafs) with 23 points (nine goals, 14 assists) in 34 games. The No. 12 pick in the 2020 draft leads all rookies in total face-offs (486), face-off wins (215), and defensive-zone face-off wins (100). He ranks third among all rookie forwards in average ice time (16:40). Lundell has seven multipoint games this season and 11 points (four goals, seven assists) in his past nine games.

5. Dawson Mercer, F, New Jersey Devils (20 years, 82 days): The No. 18 pick in the 2020 draft is fourth among rookies 20 or younger with 20 points (nine goals, 11 assists) and 17 even-strength points (seven goals, 10 assists) in 37 games. Mercer is averaging 16:20 in ice time and playing center and wing while several players remain in COVID-19 protocol for the Devils. He ranks second among NHL rookies with 26 takeaways, has drawn seven penalties and New Jersey controls 50.3 percent of all shots attempted with Mercer on the ice at 5-on-5 in 36 games.

6. Jamie Drysdale, D, Anaheim Ducks (19 years, 284 days):The No. 6 pick in the 2020 NHL Draft ranks second among rookie defensemen with 17 points (three goals, 14 assists) and in 41 games. He's averaging 19:47 in ice time and ranks sixth among all NHL defensemen with 46 blocked shots, is fourth with six penalties drawn and is sixth with seven takeaways. He's also 14th among rookie defensemen with 16 hits.
