As a result of the merger between Fifth Third Bancorp and MB Financial, Inc., the Chicago Blackhawks today announced that MB Ice Arena, the team's official practice facility and community rink, will begin to operate as Fifth Third Arena beginning Monday, May 6.

As Fifth Third Arena, the state-of-the-art facility will remain a hub for youth hockey development programs, recreational leagues and high school teams. It will also continue to be home to marquee community programming from the Chicago Blackhawks and Chicago Blackhawks Foundation such as First Stride, various afterschool and summer education initiatives, Little Blackhawks and more. Existing MB Ice Arena punch passes for public skates, skate rentals, skate sharpenings or rat hockey visits will be accepted through their completion. Other business operations - including ice and room rentals - will be minimally affected by the building's transition, but please note the rink is anticipated to be closed for approximately two weeks in July for the final ice changeover.
On May 6, all MB Ice Arena social media channels will change to @fifththirdarena, and patrons will be able to find the public schedule of events on its new website, fifththirdarena.com. Patrons are encouraged to visit these channels to stay informed of the latest updates.
The arena, located two blocks south of the United Center at 1801 W. Jackson Blvd. in Chicago, houses two regulation-sized NHL rinks and features 22 team and public locker rooms, medical and rehab facilities, a public fitness training center and a media center. The facility's amenities include a concession stand, bar and coffee shop as well as a rooftop deck, meeting rooms and additional space for public functions.
