RAPID REACTION:The Blackhawks fell to 0-2-0 in preseason play with a 4-2 loss in Detroit, despite having a 2-1 lead at one point. One very young player has done enough through two games to earn more time with the club.
The Red Wings scored first at 13:07 of the opening period, courtesy of a Thomas Vanek power-play redirection from the slot.
Patrick Kane got the Blackhawks on the board at 3:30 of the middle frame, finishing off a pass from Brandon Saad.

BOQVIST MAKES MORE PLAYS:The 2018 eighth-overall pick showed more flashes of his ability in Detroit. He made a poised defensive play 1-on-1 against Athanasiou early in the game and jumped up offensively in the second but was denied on the doorstep.

SAAD TO KANE CLICKS:There has been a lot of talk and coverage during training camp about the Blackhawks line of Saad, Nick Schmaltz and Kane. There is no doubt they're a dangerous trio. In the second period, they showed off some nice passing and finish as Saad fed Kane at the bottom of the circle from the slot for the team's opening score.

CHI@DET: Entwistle roofs goal to finish the rush

WHAT A SHOT:Entwistle roofed a beauty of a shot in the second period to give the Blackhawks a 2-1 lead. Entwistle is a big forward with skill to go along with his size, and was a key piece to last year's Hamilton Bulldogs squad that won the Ontario Hockey League Championship.
TALKING POINTS:
"I felt better. My passes were better and my head worked quicker today. It's tough to lose again, but I think we did a better game than Columbus so that's good." - Adam Boqvist on feeling better in his second game
"It felt great. Obviously, it was a pretty special moment. It was kind of fun, definitely scoring that one. It would have been nicer to get the win, for sure." - MacKenzie Entwistle on his first goal with the Blackhawks
"I didn't mind him in Columbus, but he was good again tonight. Mentally, he's just got a real good patience level. I liked his gap defensively. He does make a lot of plays and he's looking for plays. He's got a good awareness for the overall game, both sides." - Joel Quenneville on Boqvist
WHAT'S NEXT:The Blackhawks wrap up the road portion of their 2018 preseason schedule when they travel to Ottawa on Friday for a game against the Senators at 6:30 p.m. CT. You can watch on NBCSCH or listen on WGN 720.
