After besting the Sabres 4-1 in the season-opener on Thursday night in Buffalo, the Canadiens were back at practice at the Canadian Tire Centre in Ottawa on Friday afternoon in preparation for Saturday night's tilt against the Senators.

  • As indicated on Thursday night, Carey Price would not join his teammates in Ottawa due to illness. On Friday, the Canadiens disclosed that Price was suffering from a severe case of the flu, including fever. He is currently at home resting and taking antibiotics, while being evaluated on a daily basis by Dr. David Mulder. The All-World netminder will be placed on the injured reserve list, retroactive to Monday.
    - Defenseman Jeff Petry skated alongside the rest of his teammates for a second straight day. During his post-practice press conference, head coach Michel Therrien indicated that there was a good chance that the Michigan native would be back in the lineup against Ottawa. A decision on his playing status will come on Saturday.
  • Earlier in the day, the Canadiens placed Sven Andrighetto on waivers. Teams have until 12 p.m. on Saturday to claim the Swiss forward. If Andrighetto isn't claimed, he will be assigned to the AHL's St. John's IceCaps.
