On Opening Day in Major League Baseball, no less, Crosby batted home another goal. This time it was the overtime winner against the New Jersey Devils on Thursday.
"I've seen him do it so many times now that it doesn't surprise me anymore." Penguins coach Mike Sullivan said.
Crosby shot the puck on goal and it bounced off the crossbar behind Devils goalie Keith Kinkaid. On the rebound that ended up just about waist high on Crosby as he was skating in front of the net, he took a swing and did not miss.
Just a week ago,
Crosby scored a juggling, midair goal
against Montreal Canadiens goalie Carey Price. And he scored three goals by
swatting pucks out of the air in December 2016
.
"I saw it hit the post. I just tried to stay with it. I was fortunate it came back to me," Crosby said.
The goal confounded both teammates and opponents.
"You don't expect him to score that one after he hit the post," Penguins defenseman Brian Dumoulin said. "It kind of leaves you in awe. I mean we see it a lot but every time he does it and does something special it's crazy to see."
"It's pretty simple," Kinkaid said. "There's only one player in the League that is going to be able to do that, and unfortunately it was him."
