Evgeni Malkin takes Stanley Cup to Moscow

Evgeni Malkin is the last member of the Pittsburgh Penguins to have the Stanley Cup, and the Russian forward spent Tuesday with the trophy in Moscow.
Malkin began his day at the Kremlin for a photo session before meeting with a Penguins fan club. He wrapped it up with a trip to the Russian Hockey Hall of Fame, a hockey game with Russian legends and dinner, which Malkin said would include some Russian delicacies consumed from the trophy.

"I have a few ideas," Malkin told NHL.com/RU writer Sergey Demidov. "To cook pelmeni [meat dumplings] in the Cup or eat caviar from it. We haven't decided for sure."
Malkin had 18 points in 23 Stanley Cup Playoff games. He also became a father between Games 1 and 2 of the Stanley Cup Final when his girlfriend, Anna Kasterova, gave birth to a boy named Nikita on May 31.
"Winning the Cup and the birth of my son became two of my most memorable moments in life," Malkin said. "Of course, the birth of my son gave me strength and confidence. Before that day, it was quite nerve-wracking and emotional. When it all finished successfully, I sighed with relief."

The Cup joined Malkin in Russia for the second time in his 10-season NHL career. He was the Conn Smythe Trophy winner when the Penguins won the Cup in 2009 and brought it to his hometown of Magnitogorsk, Russia. He said that trip was more of a novelty and more exciting, but said he was "honored" to bring the Cup to the Russian Hockey Hall of Fame, which opened in May.
The Penguins defeated the Presidents' Trophy-winning Washington Capitals in six games in the Eastern Conference Second Round on their road to the Cup, thwarting Capitals forward Alex Ovechkin's chance at an elusive championship. The Penguins have twice eliminated the Capitals when they've won the Cup, but Malkin said he would not chide Ovechkin about the series.
"He is very upset, because [Washington] had a really good team," Malkin said. "I know how serious [Ovechkin] is about hockey, and how much he wants to win the Cup. It would not be nice of me to razz him about that."
