Lundqvist facts and figures 11.18

Henrik Lundqvist is all alone in seventh place on the NHL's wins list for goalies after making 39 saves for the New York Rangers in a 4-2 victory against the Florida Panthers at Madison Square Garden on Saturday.

It was Lundqvist's seventh win this season and the 438th of his NHL career (378 in regulation or overtime, 60 in shootouts). He passed Hockey Hall of Famer Jacques Plante for seventh place by defeating the Panthers. Lundqvist needs seven more to tie another Hall of Famer, Terry Sawchuk, for sixth (445) and 16 to catch Curtis Joseph (454) for fifth place.
The win was Lundqvist's 250th at home (250-137-43) and his 25th against Florida (25-10-3). The Panthers are the seventh team he's defeated at least 25 times; his 36 wins against the New Jersey Devils (36-17-8) are the most he's had against any team.
The Rangers selected Lundqvist in the seventh round (No. 205) of the 2000 NHL Draft. He is the only goaltender selected in the fourth round or later to have more than 400 wins, and only Martin Brodeur (688 of his NHL-record 691 victories came with New Jersey) has more wins with one team. Lundqvist has the most wins of any goaltender who has spent his entire career with the same team; the only other goaltender with at least 300 wins who's played his whole career with one team is Pekka Rinne of the Nashville Predators, who's 28th on the wins list with 318.

Sabres keep rolling

The Buffalo Sabres are on their best run in more than six years.
Jason Pominville's goal with 1:05 remaining in the third period capped a comeback and gave the Sabres a 3-2 road win against the Minnesota Wild on Saturday. It's the fifth straight victory for the Sabres, their longest winning streak since they won five in a row from March 19-27, 2012.
The Sabres, who finished last in the NHL standings in 2017-18, are 12-6-2 and trail only the Tampa Bay Lightning (14-5-1) and Toronto Maple Leafs (14-6-0) for the most points in the Eastern Conference. It's the first time since 2009-10 (also 12-6-2) that the Sabres have had at least 26 points in their first 20 games.
The goal by Pominville, who returned to Buffalo last season after a 327-game stint with the Wild, was the 11th go-ahead goal within the final two minutes of the third period in the NHL this season. The Sabres are the only team with two such goals; Kyle Okposo scored with 1:01 remaining against the Montreal Canadiens on Oct. 25.

Lightning survive historic comeback by Flyers

Anthony Cirelli's overtime goal gave Tampa Bay a 6-5 win against the Philadelphia Flyers, but not before the Lightning made some unwanted history.
The Lightning led 5-1 midway through the third period before Philadelphia scored four goals in a 6:04 span to force overtime. Tampa Bay became the sixth team in NHL history to relinquish a four-goal lead in the third period and go on to win the game; the Lightning are the first to do so since the Dallas Stars defeated the Carolina Hurricanes 6-5 on Dec. 8, 2015.
The Flyers are the ninth team in NHL history to rally from a four-goal deficit in the final 10:00 of regulation to tie the game.

Comebacks continue

The Flyers and Sabres were two of four teams that rallied from multiple-goal deficits to at least tie their game on Saturday. The Detroit Red Wings (3-2 in overtime at New Jersey) and Calgary Flames (4-2 against the Edmonton Oilers) also rallied from multiple-goal deficits. It's the 10th time this season that at least three teams rallied from a multigoal deficit to at least tie the score in the same day; that's the highest such total through the first 302 games of a season since 2008-09 (also 10).
The comeback win for the Flames was their NHL-best sixth this season when trailing entering the third period. Four of the six have come in regulation, also an NHL high -- and even more impressive considering that there have been just 18 such games in the NHL this season.

NHL Draft Class of 2017 continues to impress

Three forwards who were part of the 2017 NHL Draft class continued strong early-season runs.
Filip Chytil, selected No. 21 by the Rangers, scored for the third consecutive game in the win against the Panthers. He's the first teenager in Rangers history to score in three straight team games.
Michael Rasmussen, taken No. 9 by the Red Wings. tied the game with 6:23 remaining in regulation before Detroit topped New Jersey in overtime to improve to 8-2-0 in its past 10 games. Rasmussen became the sixth teenager in Red Wings history to score in three consecutive team games, joining Dylan Larkin, Steve Yzerman, Lane Lambert, Gordie Howe and Ted Lindsay.
Elias Pettersson, chosen by the Vancouver Canucks at No. 5, ended a five-game goal drought when he scored in a 3-2 loss to the Montreal Canadiens. Pettersson is the third player in Vancouver history to score at least 11 goals through his first 16 games with the Canucks; only Alexander Mogilny (15) and Greg Adams (14) had more.

Hoffman, Domi flourishing with new teams

Two forwards traded in the offseason, Mike Hoffman (acquired by the Panthers on June 19) and Max Domi (acquired by the Canadiens on June 15), continue to put up points for their new clubs.
Hoffman extended his Panthers-record point streak to 15 games with a goal and an assist in the loss to the Rangers. He is the 11th different player in NHL history to have a point streak of at least 15 games in his first season with a new team.
Domi had an assist in Montreal's win at Vancouver, giving him a nine-game point streak, the second-longest active run in the NHL behind Hoffman. With 24 points (10 goals, 14 assists), Domi is the first player with at least 24 points in his first 20 games with the Canadiens since Odie Cleghorn in 1918-19 (30 points; 24 goals, six assists).
