The 30-year-old goalie has been out since sustaining a lower-body injury during the preseason. As part of a conditioning stint with Lehigh Valley of the American Hockey League, he made 31 saves in a 7-3 win against Hartford on Wednesday.
Goalie Robin Lehner will start for the Islanders, who are 1-3-1 in their past five games. It's the first game of a back-to-back for New York, which plays at the Carolina Hurricanes on Sunday.
