Jost nets 2 goals in a 5-2 win over the Avalanche

DENVER - Tyson Jost scored two power-play goals for the Minnesota Wild in a 5-2 win against the Colorado Avalanche at Ball Arena on Tuesday.

Nic Petan had a goal and an assist, Sam Steel and Matt Boldy each had two assists, and Filip Gustavsson, who was acquired in a trade with the Ottawa Senators for goalie Cam Talbot on July 12, allowed two goals on 28 shots in 30:16 in his Minnesota debut. Zane McIntyre made 13 saves in relief.
Martin Kaut had a goal and an assist, Charles Hudon had two assists, and Pavel Francouz made 21 saves for Colorado.
Alex Newhook gave the Avalanche a 1-0 lead 19 seconds into the first period, but Jost scored at 6:08 and 15:48 to give the Wild a 2-1 lead.
Minnesota was 3-for-8 on the power play, Colorado was 0-for-5.
Martin Kaut tied it 2-2 20 seconds into the second period, but the Wild scored three times in the final 5:11. Petan's power-play goal at 14:49 made it 3-2 before Vladislav Firstov (17:21) and Brandon Duhaime (19:50) each scored for the 5-2 final.
