The Wild, who are 3-4-3 in the past 10 games, moved into the second wild card on Friday with a 2-1 win against the Washington Capitals. Minnesota is one point ahead of the Colorado Avalanche and Arizona Coyotes.
Devan Dubnyk will start in goal, and Zach Parise could be a game-time decision after a collision with Capitals forward Tom Wilson.
Goalie Petr Mrazek will start for the Hurricanes, who hold the first wild card from the Eastern Conference. The Hurricanes, who are 9-3-1 in the past 13 games, trail the Pittsburgh Penguins by four points for third place in the Metropolitan Division.
Mrazek is 7-1-0 with a 1.73 goals-against average, .944 save percentage and two shutouts in his past eight starts.
