It was a sendoff fit for a king.
New York Rangers goalie Alexandar Georgiev posted a touching tribute to his former teammate, Henrik Lundqvist, who agreed to a buyout of the final year of his contract on Wednesday.

The team shared a
video motage of Lundqvist's career highlights
, including a run to the 2014 Stanley Cup Final, after the announcement.
Lundqvist, who spent 15 seasons between the pipes at Madison Square Garden, started 26 games this past season. Georgiev started 32 and Igor Shesterkin started 12.
Georgiev's tribute said it was "an absolute honor it has been being Hank's goalie partner" and that "seeing that drive and competitiveness every day pushes everyone to be better.
Instagram from @aghockey: What an absolute honor it has been being Hank's goalie partner! Seeing that drive and competitiveness every day pushes everyone to be better. Staalsy was a Warrior for us doing everything to help the team win! All the young guys learned from them and what it takes to be a Ranger for that long. Gonna miss them both on and off the ice..
In the same post, Georgiev also shouted out another former teammate, Marc Staal, who was
traded to the Detroit Red Wings
after 13 seasons in New York.
"Staalsy was a Warrior for us doing everything to help the team win!" he wrote on Instagram. "All the young guys learned from them and what it takes to be a Ranger for that long. Gonna miss them both on and off the ice."
