Dach follows Kakko with game-winning goal by 18-year-old

Kirby Dach scored the game-winning goal for the Chicago Blackhawks in a 5-3 win against the Vegas Golden Knights at T-Mobile Arena. The forward is the third different 18-year-old in Blackhawks history to score a game-winning goal, which gave Chicago its first win against Vegas (7-1-0 since Oct. 24, 2017).

The No. 3 pick in the 2019 NHL Draft, Dach scored the game-winner one day after forward Kaapo Kakko, selected No. 2, did so for the New York Rangers. It's the third time in NHL history that an 18-year-old scored a game-winner in consecutive days.
Dach also joined Devils forward Jack Hughes (Oct. 19-25) and Kakko (Nov. 10-12) as the third player from the 2019 draft to score in consecutive games this season. Three Blackhawks accomplished the feat at age 18: Patrick Kane (twice in 2007-08), Eddie Olczyk (four times in 1984-85) and Bobby Hull (Nov. 9-10, 1957).

Islanders, Capitals survive to extend point streaks

The New York Islanders extended their point streak to 13 games (12-0-1) with a 5-4 victory against the Toronto Maple Leafs at Nassau Coliseum, the fifth time in their history they've had a run of at least 13. Center Casey Cizikas became the 11th different Islanders player to score a game-winning goal this season, the most by any team and three more than the Washington Capitals, Nashville Predators, Pittsburgh Penguins, Buffalo Sabres and Dallas Stars (each with eight).
The Capitals defeated the Philadelphia Flyers 2-1 at Wells Fargo Center to stretch their point streak to 13 games (11-0-2). Washington is 14-2-4 with 32 points, the highest total after 20 games in its history, and two games from its longest point streak (14-0-1 in 2009-10).

John Carlson (30 points; eight goals, 22 assists) had one assist and has at least one point in 16 of 20 games. He is the sixth different NHL defenseman to need 20 or fewer games to reach 30 points in a season and first since Al MacInnis for the Calgary Flames in 1990-91.
