Alex Ovechkin became the first NHL player to reach 900 goals when he scored Wednesday for the Washington Capitals in a 6-1 win against the St. Louis Blues at Capital One Arena in Washington.
It was his third goal of the season in Washington's 13th game.
Last season, Ovechkin became the NHL all-time goals leader, when he scored his 895th against the New York Islanders at UBS Arena in Elmont, New York, on April 6, passing Wayne Gretzky’s mark of 894.
