Detroit Red Wings forward Anthony Mantha will have at least 30 family and friends on hand when he makes his season debut at Bell Centre on Saturday. Mantha was tied for the American Hockey League lead with eight goals in 10 games when he was recalled from Grand Rapids on Friday. "My message to him was similar to my message to Thomas Vanek at the beginning of the year, be accountable defensively, win your one-on-one puck races and battles, and track hard, come back on the backcheck hard," coach Jeff Blashill said. "If he does those three things his talent will take him lots of places. So he's got lots and lots of talent and a big body, we want that, but those three things, they're non-starters. You have to do those in order to play for our hockey team." Recalled after forward Andreas Athanasiou injured his knee during Detroit's 3-1 win against the Vancouver Canucks on Thursday, Mantha had two goals and one assist in 10 games with the Red Wings last season. He scored each of his goals against Montreal. "It's unbelievable to be back home, playing against your home team that you followed when you were young, and I'm just pretty excited to be here right now," Mantha said.
