The Game

Goalie Philipp Grubauer will make his regular-season debut for the Colorado Avalanche when they play the Columbus Blue Jackets at Nationwide Arena on Tuesday.
Grubauer was acquired in a trade with the Washington Capitals on June 22 after going 15-10-3 in 35 games (28 starts) last season, helping them win the Stanley Cup.
A win would give the Avalanche their best start since beginning the 2013-14 season 6-0-0.
Avalanche forward Matt Calvert and defenseman Ian Cole return to Nationwide Arena for the first time since each signed a free agent contract with Colorado on July 1.
Riley Nash will move from the fourth line to third-line center in place of Brandon Dubinsky, who will miss 4-6 weeks with a sprained oblique muscle.

Players to watch

Grubauer had a 2.35 goals-against average, .923 save percentage and three shutouts last season.
Blue Jackets center Alex Wennberg has no points in two games, but likely will get more ice time and defensive responsibilities with Dubinsky out.

They said it

"When you walk into the rink, it's very familiar to me. Seeing the boys last night, sharing old stories, then the hockey memories come in. It was a little tough sleeping last night."-- Avalanche forward Matt Calvert
"Matt Calvert's an old-school pro. He's going to give everything he can possibly give when he comes in here to play. It won't surprise me how he plays. That's just how he's built." -- Blue Jackets coach John Tortorella
