Ruck brothers WHL Tigers

The Ruck brothers were causing a Ruck-ous for the WHL’s Medicine Hat Tigers on Tuesday.

Liam Ruck and Markus Ruck -- both drafted by the Pittsburgh Penguins during the 2026 NHL Draft -- played on the same line together for the WHL’s Medicine Hat Tigers, with Liam recording a hat trick and Markus adding a goal and two assists.

Their third linemate? Younger brother Landon, who picked up a point as well during the Tigers’ 5-3 win.

It’s the first time the three brothers have played together.

“Obviously it’s pretty special,” Liam told the media after the game. “I get to go out there every day with my twin brother – that’s special on its own – but getting to go out there with both these guys, it’s a different feeling and it was so fun being out there with them.”

“I know mom and dad are pretty proud up in the crowd,” Markus added. “I’m sure it meant a lot to them, and it meant a lot to us too. We enjoyed every minute out there.”

A bonus for their mom, Nina, was winning the 50/50 raffle during the game as well.

Markus said that, in addition to their mom and dad being at the game, their grandparents also made the trip out to Medicine Hat.

“It’s not a fun drive and not a short drive either, so for them to come here and see them in the crowd, it’s awesome. It means a lot to us,” Markus said.

Liam scored the Tigers’ first two goals of the game, both assisted by Markus, finding the back of the net late in the first period and again in the second.

“He made a nice, hard pass, right on the tape,” Liam said of his brother’s play. “Gave me a lane. Both these guys are so fun to play with.”

With the Tigers down a goal in the third period, Markus evened the score off a power play goal with an assist from younger brother Landon. Eventually the Tigers took the lead, then Liam capped things off with an empty netter to complete the hat trick.

“We’re big guys on family, and getting to share the ice with two brothers, not everybody gets that,” Markus said. “It was super special being out there and having some fun.”
