Brent Seabrook, Alex DeBrincat and Jonathan Toews scored for Chicago. Cam Ward made 22 saves in his debut with the Blackhawks.
"I just need to calm down," Ward said about allowing three goals on ten shots in the first period. "You want it so bad that sometimes it can work against you.
"I was really excited about the opportunity to play and start the season. I felt good, but it felt like I was moving around a little too much. In the second and third, I just felt a lot more composed and made the big save when we needed it."

Seabrook tied it 3-3 at 12:18 of the third period on one-timer off a pass from Kane in the right circle.
"If you can get [Seabrook] in that position, we've seen it before where he's coming down the slot and he's not going to miss too many of those," Kane said. "It was a great celebration, too. Good to see him excited."

Toews beat Anderson blocker side with a wrist shot on a 2-on-1 to give Chicago a 2-1 lead at 10:30.
"You never want to be down going into the third," Kane said. "But to have it finish like that, where you're coming back and tying it up and winning in overtime, we were pretty pumped up after. It gives everyone a lot of confidence."
