Sept. 16 – Zucker to miss start of regular season
Jason Zucker is expected to miss the start of the regular season with a sports hernia, Sabres general manager Jarmo Kekäläinen announced during his season-opening press conference on Wednesday.
“You can never say exactly,” Kekäläinen said when asked about Zucker’s timetable. “He’s very close to (being ready for) the start of the year. He could miss maybe a couple weeks of the regular season.”
Kekäläinen also announced that defenseman Louis Crevier, acquired from Chicago in June, underwent offseason shoulder surgery.
“He looks like he’s ready,” Kekäläinen said of Crevier. “I think he still needs to talk to the doctor that operated on him, but we think he’ll be ready for the start of the regular season. We still don’t have a final answer on it.”
Sept. 15 – 4 players returned to junior teams
Following the Prospects Showcase and ahead of training camp, the Sabres sent the following players back to their junior hockey teams:
- Defenseman David Bedkowski to Ottawa (OHL)
- Goaltender Samuel Meloche to Saint John (QMJHL)
- Forward Doman Szongoth to Sault Ste. Marie (OHL)
- Forward Dylan Dumont to Drummondville (QMJHL)
Sept. 14 – Ostlund signed to 8-year extension
The Sabres signed 22-year-old forward Noah Ostlund to an eight-year contract extension with an AAV of $6.6 million. The deal kicks in next season and runs through 2034-35. More details
