Facts and Figures: Ovechkin reaches another milestone with Capitals

Alex Ovechkin helped the Washington Capitals defeat the Pittsburgh Penguins 2-1 on Wednesday by scoring his 235th power-play goal, moving him past Hockey Hall of Famer Marcel Dionne into eighth place on the all-time list.

Ovechkin's game-tying goal in the second period also moved him within one of Mario Lemieux (236) for seventh place. He's two behind Brendan Shanahan (237) for sixth. It was the 619th goal of Ovechkin's NHL career and the 12th this season, tying Boston Bruins forward David Pastrnak for first in the NHL.
Ovechkin's goal matched a first-period power-play goal by Pittsburgh's Sidney Crosby. It was the ninth time in the 47 games they've played against each other that each one scored; Washington is 4-4-1 in those games, Pittsburgh is 5-3-1. Ovechkin has more goals (30-21) in those 47 games, but Crosby has more points (66-50).

Predators still perfect on road

Forward Colton Sissons scored three goals for his second regular-season hat trick to help the Nashville Predators stay perfect on the road with a 4-1 win against the Colorado Avalanche at Pepsi Center.
The Predators (12-3-0) are 7-0-0 on the road this season. The NHL record for consecutive road wins from the start of a season is 10, by the Buffalo Sabres in 2006-07. The 2008-09 New Jersey Devils are second with nine, and five other teams won their first seven road games.
Nashville will try to go 8-0-0 away from Bridgestone Arena against the Dallas Stars (2 p.m. ET; FS-SW, FS-TN, NHL.TV) on Saturday. Later Saturday, the Toronto Maple Leafs will try for a 7-0-0 start on the road when they play the Boston Bruins at TD Garden (7 p.m. ET; NHLN, CBC, SN360, NESN, NHL.TV).
Sissons' other regular-season hat trick was Jan. 5, 2017. He also scored three goals in Game 6 of the 2017 Western Conference Final to propel Nashville into the Stanley Cup Final for the first time.
Wednesday was the fourth consecutive day to feature a hat trick and the fifth in November. The longest string of consecutive days with at least one hat trick is nine from Oct. 11-19, 1988.

Flames nearly tie NHL mark before losing to Ducks

The Calgary Flames saw two streaks end when they lost 3-2 to the Anaheim Ducks at Honda Center.
The loss ended Calgary's four-game winning streak and their streak of three straight wins when trailing in the third period. The NHL record for such victories is four, set by the Carolina Hurricanes from Oct. 26 to Nov. 3, 2005 and matched by the Stars (Jan. 25-30, 2006) and Penguins (Nov. 8-15, 2008).
The Flames lead the NHL with five wins in games that they trailed entering the third period. No other team has more than two.
