NOTES:These fantasy projections (for 82-game season), a collaborative effort by Pete Jensen, Anna Dua and Remy Mastey, have been quantified based on factors including but not limited to past performance in the regular season and Stanley Cup Playoffs, projected line combinations, power-play usage, team goalie situations, injury history or concern, sleeper upside, anticipated regression or bounce-back candidacy, age, contract status and overall upside for this season. The below totals are safe estimates and do not necessarily indicate each player's ceiling or floor, and should be used as a basis for decision-making in all fantasy leagues. Players are listed below in order of NHL.com top 250 rank.
Blackhawks 32 in 32: [Season preview | 3 Questions | Top prospects]
Patrick Kane, RW -- Kane matched his NHL career high in assists (had 66 last season and in 2018-19), finishing seventh in the League, and was tied for 14th in points (92 in 78 games). Despite Chicago missing the Stanley Cup Playoffs in four of the past five seasons and trading Kane's frequent linemate Alex DeBrincat to the Ottawa Senators, Kane remains an elite stand-alone fantasy option entering his contract year (potential 2023 unrestricted free agent).
NHL.com point projection for Kane: 85
Seth Jones, D -- He led the NHL in average ice time last season (26:13 per game) and was tied for 15th in points (51) among defensemen. Jones is a two-time 50-point producer (NHL career-high 57 points with Columbus Blue Jackets in 2017-18) and should be considered a fringe top 30 fantasy defenseman, especially in leagues that count blocks (155 last season; 12th).
NHL.com point projection for Jones: 46
Jonathan Toews, C -- He's coming off the lowest points-per-game average of his NHL career (0.52; 37 in 71 games) but has fantasy bounce-back appeal considering he's had more than 75 points twice in his NHL career. Toews, who will likely be available in the late rounds of most fantasy drafts, could regain his form from the 2019-20 season (60 points in 70 games), especially if he's on the top line with longtime teammate Kane.
NHL.com point projection for Toews: 44
Taylor Raddysh, RW -- The 24-year-old was acquired in a trade with the Tampa Bay Lightning last season and is one of the Blackhawks' most intriguing young players after they traded DeBrincat to the Senators and Kirby Dach to the Montreal Canadiens, and did not offer a contract to Dylan Strome (signed with Washington Capitals). Raddysh could emerge on the top line and/or first power-play unit with Kane and Toews after having 10 points (six goals, four assists), including three power-play goals, in 21 games with Chicago down the stretch during his rookie season.
NHL.com point projection for Raddysh: 35
