BUFFALO (June 26, 2026) — Today with the seventh overall pick in the 2026 NHL Entry Draft, the Seattle Kraken selected defenseman Chase Reid from the Soo Greyhounds of the Ontario Hockey League.

In his second OHL season, Reid served as an alternate captain for the first time, recording 48 points (18g/30a) in 45 games with the Soo Greyhounds. He led all Greyhounds defensemen in points and goals and ranked second in assists. In the playoffs, he added six points (3g/3a) in 10 games. Reid was named to the OHL First All-Star Team.

The Chesterfield, Michigan native represented the United States at the 2026 IIHF World Junior Championship, recording four points (2g/2a) in five games.

During his rookie OHL season with the Greyhounds in 2024-25, Reid posted 40 points (7g/33a) in 39 games, leading all OHL rookies in assists. He added two assists in the playoffs and was named to the OHL First All-Rookie Team.

Reid is expected to attend the Kraken's development camp, which will be held at Kraken Community Iceplex from June 29 to July 2.
