The National Hockey League announced late Friday the Kraken's road game with the New York Islanders Saturday afternoon game has been postponed due to a weather-related state of emergency. The game is rescheduled for Wednesday at 4 p.m.
The decision aligns with New York Gov. Kathy Hochul's decision to declare a state of emergency for multiple downstate New York counties including all of those encompassing Long Island and New York City (where the Kraken are scheduled to meet the New York Rangers in a Sunday matinee).

Heavy snow is expected Friday evening through Saturday in Long Island, New York City and the mid-Hudson River regions with accumulations up to 10 to 16 inches on Long Island. Hochul has asked all motorists to stay off roads in those areas so emergency crews can operate more effectively.
The Kraken's first game with Islanders this season, slated for Jan. 6 at Climate Pledge Arena was postponed because other NYI games on a planned road trip were in Western Canada, where limited crowds would be able to attend. The NHL made the decision to postpone the Kraken home game and later rescheduled it for Feb. 22.
Saturday's postponement eliminates the weekend back-to-back games for the Kraken, but shifts the consecutive-night games to Tuesday in Boston and now Wednesday at the Islanders' brand-new UBS Arena.
