"As stone makes a pass to a teammate, Trouba steps up and delivers a high, forceful blow that makes the head the main point of contact, on such a hit where such head contact was avoidable," the league said in the video. "It is important to note that Stone does not materially change the position of his head just prior to or simultaneous with contact in a way that contributes to the head being the main point of contact.
"The onus is on Trouba to deliver a full-body hit through his body's core. Instead, Trouba takes a poor angle of approach, picking Stone's head and making it the main point of contact on a forceful hit."
Trouba will be eligible to return to Winnipeg's lineup on on Mar. 3 when the Jets host the St. Louis Blues.
Julian Melchiori, who was recalled by the Jets on Feb. 14, is likely to play in Trouba's absence, beginning tomorrow when the Jets close out a four-game road trip against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
