CONFIDENCE BUILDER
The Jets got some pressure off their backs with a solid performance on Friday night scoring three times in the first period at Canada Life Centre en route to 6-2 win over the Detroit Red Wings. Mark Scheifele scored his career best 39th of the season, his first goal in ten games. Blake Wheeler scored his first goal in 22 games, and he looked really comfortable on the second line with Nikolaj Ehlers and Vladislav Namestnikov. Getting goals from those two players gave a huge boost of confidence to both and the team itself. On top of that, the Jets scored the majority of their six goals close to the front of the net. All of this has to carry over into tonight's game against the New Jersey Devils, who will not give up as many scoring chances as the Red Wings.

44 RETURNS
After missing Friday's game against Detroit with an illness, Josh Morrissey will return to the lineup. Logan Stanley will come out for the veteran defenceman. Credit has to be given to Dylan Samberg who stepped into Morrissey's spot beside Dylan DeMelo and played another solid game. Neal Pionk and Brendan Dillon also stepped up in the all-star defenceman's absence providing both offence and defence. Morrissey will return to the left side with DeMelo tonight and Samberg will move back with Nate Schmidt. Morrissey remains the second leading scorer on the team with 69 points in 73 games this season.
DEVILS DANGEROUS
One thing Jets fans will notice quickly tonight is that the Devils are not a "dump and chase" team. They love to carry the puck into the offensive zone and have the talent up front to do so with Jack Hughes, Dawson Mercer, Timo Meier and Nico Hischier. It will be important that the Jets defend the rush well tonight and their puck management in the offensive zone will have to be solid because the Devils will jump on any mistake and turn that into quality scoring chances.
