Sunday's 7-1 afternoon win over the Philadelphia Flyers marked the third straight game Hellebuyck only allowed one goal, while improving his record to 13-8-1.
"There's something about those afternoon games that just suit me," said Hellebuyck. "I like waking up and having no down time. I feel very energized not really skating in the morning, not doing much and coming to the rink just excited to play."
Hellebuyck's teammates were happy the Michigan product felt energized as he was outstanding in the opening period, stopping 16 shots.
"There were a few of them that were big time saves," said Tyler Myers.
"He's a guy that you feel very comfortable back there with whenever you make a mistake. He was able to allow us to get our feet under us after the first 10-15 minutes."
The Jets starting netminder was at his finest during the Flyers first man advantage of the afternoon where the visitors had five glorious chances to open the scoring.
"I don't know if you can count the five goals, they would have had on one power play but he was really good," said Paul Maurice. "You have a period like that you need one or two guys to be a difference maker for you and he's the key piece to that."
Hellebuyck's save percentage over the last three games is a sensational .967 and clearly his best stretch of the 2018-19 season.
"I think I was just gripping it a little too tight and trying to do a little too much with it instead of letting the game come to me," said Hellebuyck. "I was trying to do more and trying to go after it when really I just needed to relax and read the play."
The team was breathing a sigh of relief in the third period when Hellebuyck took a shot in the rib area and looked like he was feeling the after effects for some time afterwards.
"There's no equipment between me and the puck so that one hurt pretty bad," said Hellebuyck.
