The New York Islanders extended their point streak to four games, but it came via a 4-3 shootout loss to the San Jose Sharks at SAP Center.
Brock Nelson, Zach Parise and Adam Pelech scored for the Islanders in regulation, but Anthony Beauvillier, Mat Barzal and Nelson came up empty in the shootout. Alex Barabanov, Jasper Weatherby and Logan Couture scored for the Sharks, with Couture adding the lone goal in the shootout.
The shootout loss was a sour one, as the Islanders outshot the Sharks 47-28 and carried the play in the third period and overtime. San Jose snapped a seven-game winless streak in the process.

15:55- NYI 1, SJS 1 PPG - Alexander Barabanov beats Ilya Sorokin with a wrister through traffic after an offensive-zone faceoff win. Assists to Brent Burns and Tomas Hertl.
17:32 - SJS 2, NYI 1 - Jasper Weatherby puts San Jose up 1:37 later, curling around the circle, putting a wrist shot on net that deflects past Sorokin.
2nd Period:
12:48 - NYI 2, SJS 2 - Zach Parise scores his 400th goal, posting up in the slot and burying a Sebastian Aho feed past Reimer. Parise is the 10th active player with 400 goals.
16:31 - SJS 3, NYI 2 PPG - Logan Couture's half-slapper deflects off Scott Mayfield's leg and finds its way through Sorokin.
16:50 - NYI 3, SJS 3 - Adam Pelech drives a one-timer through Reimer's five-hole to tie the score 19 seconds after the Sharks' power-play maker.

GOALTENDING MATCHUP:
Ilya Sorokin stopped 25 of 28 in the shootout loss, stopping one of the two shots he faced in the bonus round. Sorokin made his eighth start in a row.
James Reimer stopped 44 of 47 in regulation and all three shots in the shootout.
SPECIAL TEAMS:
The Islanders power play went 0-for-3.
The Sharks power play went 2-for-2.
