Final

The New York Islanders extended their home winning streak to six games, as they beat the Detroit Red Wings 5-2 at UBS Arena on Thursday night.
Brock Nelson scored a pair of goals, while Anders Lee racked up three assists. Anthony Beauvillier (1G, 1A), Oliver Wahlstrom and Josh Bailey also scored for the Islanders, while Pius Suter and Sam Gagner scored late goals for Detroit.
The win improved the Islanders to 7-1-1 in their last nine games.

THE SCORING:

1st Period:
0:09 - NYI 1, DET 0 - Anders Lee pressures Filip Hronek before knocking the stick out of the defenseman's hand and then dishes over to Anthony Beauvillier to open the scoring. The goal snaps a 10-game goal drought for Beauvillier.
16:07 - NYI 2, DET 0 - Mat Barzal streaks down the left side and finds Oliver Wahlstrom in the high slot. Wahlstrom beats Thomas Greiss short side to make it 2-0.
2nd Period:
11:39 - NYI 3, DET 0 PPG - Brock Nelson buries his team-leading 28th goal of the season, going high on Greiss from in close. Lee and Barzal with the assists.
3rd Period:
1:19 - NYI 4, DET 0 - Josh Bailey beats Alex Nedeljkovic on the first shot of the period, going upstairs on the netminder after taking a drop pass from Kyle Palmieri.
13:25 - NYI 4, DET 1 - Pius Suter deflects a Filip Hronek shot past Ilya Sorokin to end the goalie's shutout bid.
14:07 - NYI 5, DET 1 - The Lee-Nelson-Beauvillier line teams up for a beauty. Nelson feeds Lee, who finds Beauvillier, who sends it across the crease for Nelson' second of the game.
15:18 - NYI 5, DET 2 - The Red Wings get one right back, as Jakub Vrana finds Sam Gagner on the left side and the veteran snaps one past Sorokin.

Beauvillier's goal was the second-fastest to start a game in team history, trailing only Bryan Trottier's five-second goal on March 22, 1984. Trottier's goal is still tied for the fastest goal to start a game in NHL history. Beauvillier's goal was the fastest to start a game this season... Anders Lee recorded a multi-point game for the second-straight contest and now has 16 points (10G, 7A) in his last 10 games. Lee recoded three assists for the first time since Oct. 27, 2018... Josh Bailey tied Bob Bourne for 9th in points (542) on the Islanders franchise leaderboard... Noah Dobson had a team-high five shots on goal...

GOALTENDING MATCHUP:

Ilya Sorokin stopped 37 of 39 in the win.
Former Islander Thomas Greiss stopped 13 of 16 in his return to Long Island. Greiss left the game after the second period. Alex Nedeljkovic stopped eight of 10 in relief.

SPECIAL TEAMS:

The Islanders went 1-for-1 on the power play and 3-for-3 on the penalty kill.
