The New York Islanders fell 4-1 to the Boston Bruins on Wednesday night at UBS Arena.
Zach Parise had the Islanders up 1-0 in the first period, but the league's top team responded with four unanswered goals from Charlie McAvoy, Derek Forbort, Brad Marchand (PPG) and Trent Frederic.
With the loss, the Islanders end their season-long five-game homestand with a 1-2-2 record. They are 2-5-2 in their last nine games and were held to just one goal for the fifth time over that span.

THE SCORING

1st Period:
15:41 - NYI 1, BOS 0 - Zach Parise scores his 13th goal of the season, beating Linus Ullmark with a one-timer from the top of the circle after being set up by Sebastian Aho.

2nd Period:
7:48 - NYI 1, BOS 1 - Long Island native Charlie McAvoy blasts a one-timer from the point through Semyon Varlamov's 14 hole. The puck looked to have slightly tipped off Will Dufour's stick as the Islanders' forward was closing out on the defenseman. Matt Grzelcyk and Charlie Coyle with the assists.
11:00 - BOS 2, NYI 1 - David Krejci's shot hits the crossbar, bounces off Semyon Varlamov's back and sits in the crease before Derek Forbort pokes in the loose puck.
3rd Period:
5:03 - BOS 3, NYI 1 PPG - Brad Marchand finishes off a tic-tac-toe play with Pastrnak and McAvoy. The goal ends the Islanders streak of home penatly kills at 22 straight.
15:38 - BOS 4, NYI 1 - Trent Frederic makes it 4-1, going to the net and finishing a centering feed from Coyle.

NOTEBOOK:

Forward Will Dufour made his NHL debut on Wednesday night, skating 6:48 with one hit and one giveaway. Dufour did not see a shift after the Bruins second goal at the 11-minute mark of the second period... Defenseman Dennis Cholowski made his Islanders debut skating 13:58, including 3:26 on the power play, with six shot attempts, five shots blocked and one miss... With Parise's first period goal, the Islanders outscored their opponents 7-1 in the first period of their five-game homestand... McAvoy's goal was his first in 24 games... Sebastian Aho is riding a two-game point streak (1G, 1A)... Noah Dobson and Zach Parise each had a team-high five shots on goal... The Islanders won 37% of face-offs, going 19-for-51 on the night... Brad Marchand had a game-high six shots on goal... Charlie Coyle (2A) and McAvoy (1G, 1A) had two-point games for Boston... Linus Ullmark recorded his 100th career win...

GOALTENDING BATTLE:

Semyon Varlamov stopped 20 of 24 in the loss.
Linus Ullmark stopped 26 of 27 in the win.

SPECIAL TEAMS:

The Islanders power play went 0-for-6, while the penalty kill was 3-for-4.
