2021 Islanders Children's Foundation Golf Outing

The courses at Old Westbury Golf and Country Club were littered with contests during the 13th annual Islanders Children's Foundation Golf Outing on Monday.
Longest drive and closest to the pin competitions were abound on 27 holes and while there were plenty of winners announced at the end of the night, there was only one record that mattered.
The Islanders Children's Foundation raised over $440K, the most-ever in the 13-year history of the event, as well as the most raised in a single event in the charity's history.

"It's a great day for the Islanders Children's Foundation and it's a great day for supporters of the New York Islanders because the ICF is making such a difference in so many lives," Islanders Co-Owner Jon Ledecky said. "The chance to show the love and share the love and to raise more money than has ever been raised in the history of the Islanders Children's Foundation program was simply spectacular."

Islanders players, coaches and alumni each joined a foursome for Monday's event, playing in the charity round. While the Islanders are pretty good golfers in their own rite - Cal Clutterbuck is the consensus club pro, while Ryan Pulock, Oliver Wahlstrom and Noah Dobson were honing their skills at Sebonack Golf Club a few weeks back - the goal of Monday's outing was a high-dollar figure rather than a low score and safely mingling with the community.
"The thing that's so gratifying for me to hear everyone come up and say 'wow, those players are so nice, they are such great human beings and nice guys, because that's the Islanders Way," Ledecky said. "It's also great to hear that our players represent themselves so well in the community and they are beloved and there's a great sense of camaraderie that exists at an event like this."
Monday's golf outing was the 13th in support of the ICF and first in two years since last year's event was cancelled due to COVID-19. After 18 months of virtual events, it was a refreshing change to interact in person.
"It was bonding for us as Daniel Gale Sotheby's agents and managers," Deirdre O'Connell, Chief Executive Officer of Daniel Gale Sotheby's International Realty, said. "It's really all about Long Island too, so it was even more important that we were here with the Islanders, who are our premier professional sports team. We're so proud and happy to have them back on the Island and to be supporting children. It's all about giving back, so that made it even more special."

Daniel Gale Sotheby's was the presenting sponsor of the annual golf outing and O'Connell said that as big of a thrill as it was to golf with the team, supporting the community was the shot of the day.
"We always do believe in supporting our communities," O'Connell said. "Yes, we sell homes, but homes are only as valuable as the communities in which they sit. We are so blessed to be here on Long Island where we have rich communities, not just monetarily, but in spirit and commitment to each other and today was just another example of that."
That was true both on a macro level and a micro one. The scramble-style tournament meant that the Islanders and their foursomes had to work together throughout the day. So when Andy Greene was pitching an approach on the ninth hole of Bluegrass, or Anders Lee was scouting out lies and looks at the green on the sixth hole of the Overlook course, the real winner was the ICF on a record-setting day.
