The New York Islanders are in the 'Peg to take on the Winnipeg Jets on Saturday night at Canada Life Centre. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET.

The Islanders are coming off a dominant 6-2 win over the Montreal Canadiens on Thursday night, headlined by Brock Nelson's four-goal performance. Oliver Wahlstrom and Jean-Gabriel Pageau also found the back of the net, while Ilya Sorokin made 36 saves on 38 shots. The win extended the Islanders point streak to six games (4-0-2).
The Jets will face the Islanders in the second leg of a back-to-back set after soundly defeating the Chicago Blackhawks 5-1 the night prior. Winnipeg is also in the midst of a seven-game homestand.
It's been over two years since the Islanders and Jets last faced each other, with the last meeting between the clubs having taken place on Oct. 17, 2019, where the Islanders secured a 3-1 victory.

Morning Skate Update: Barry Trotz did not announce a goaltender for Saturday's game, but confirmed that he'd split his two goalies during the team's back-to-back.
• Nelson recorded his first-ever four-goal performance and third-career NHL hat trick vs Montreal. Nelson now leads the Islanders in scoring with six goals and eight points through eight games.
Anthony Beauvillier assisted on three of Nelson's goals to match his career-high. Beauvillier now has seven points (3G, 4A) through eight games.

• Wahlstrom buried his fifth goal of the season and his second goal in as many games. The 21-year-old winger has five goals through eight games.
• Pageau found the back of the net for the first time this season and now has four points (1G, 3A) through seven games.
Zach Parise and Zdeno Chara recorded their first points with the Islanders this season. Parise earned an assist on Pageau's goal and on Nelson's empty-netter, while Chara picked up a secondary assist on Nelson's second goal of the game. Parise's points are his first as an Islander, while Chara's was his first point as an Islander since Apr. 2, 2001.
• Sorokin recorded his eighth-straight start and notched his fourth win of the season. Sorokin now has a record of 4-2-2, a 2.23 GAA, a .933 SV% and two shutouts.
• Islanders President and General Manager Lou Lamoriello became just the third GM in NHL history to reach the 2,600 regular-season game milestone
• The Islanders are 4-1-2 when scoring first and are 0-1-0 when allowing the opening goal.
• The Islanders' special teams struggled against Montreal who got its scoring with a shorthanded goal and a power-play goal. The Islanders were 0-for-3 on the power play and 2-for-3 on the penalty kill. The Islanders were the only team in the NHL during last year's regular season to not allow a shorthanded goal against. This season, the Islanders have given up four power-play goals against and one shorthanded goal against.


JETS NOTES:

• Winnipeg's 5-1 victory over Chicago featured goals from Paul Statsny, Neal Pionk, Dominic Tominato, Kyle Connor, and Nikolaj Ehlers. Eric Comrie made 17 saves on 18 shots.
• Comrie made his third start in the last four games as he earned his second victory of the season. Comrie now has a 3-0-0 record, a 1.95 GAA and a .922 SV%.
• With Friday's win, the Jets have points in each of their past eight games, going 6-0-2. The Jets' 6-2-2 start to the season marks the franchise's best start through 10 games.
• The Jets power play ranks third overall in the NHL and is clicking at a 29.0% clip.
• Winnipeg is 4-0-0 on home ice this season.
• Connor is fourth in NHL scoring with 16 points (8G, 8A) in 10 games and leads the Jets in scoring as well.
• Pierre-Luc Dubois' point streak ended at eight games on Friday. Dubois had 11 points (7G, 4A) during his run.
• Connor Hellebuyck didn't skate on Thursday with the team and did not play on Friday, which meant the Jets recalled goaltender Mikhail Berdin from the Manitoba Moose on an emergency basis. In a corresponding move, Kristian Vesalainen was reassigned to the team's AHL affiliate. Hellebuyck and his wife Andrea welcomed a baby boy into the world in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
• During the offseason, the Jets acquired defensemen Brenden Dillon (from Washington) and Nate Schmidt (from Vancouver).
